About Us

Renee Kim and Ti-Jay Hisatake cut, color and coif at their Pure Hair Salon - and they are doing it nonstop - in Kaneohe Medical Building just north of Benjamin Parker Elementary School. Some of their most-requested services are highlights with color, and waxing. Since they opened at the end of May, they said they’ve been booked solid. “We came up with the salon name because it is clean and wholesome,” said Lu Hisatake. “It comes from our heart. It’s homey here and family-oriented and loving.” One of the perks of the Pure Hair Salon is the Wii video game available in an area for the children where they can also watch movies.

The Castle graduates met in beauty school in 1995, and they worked in other salons before deciding to open one of their own. “We are here most days, sometimes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.,” said Kim, adding that the two friends sometimes finish each other’s sentences. The partners hope to find other stylists to rent space in their salon in the future, and they want to someday have a bigger salon.
